Wrapping Up 2017

What a year! 2017, you surely did not disappoint.

It was a year full of weddings, events, new friends and faces, and oh so much love. New venues, new styles, new traditions! As this year comes to an end and an surely exciting one is on the horizon, I wanted to take a moment to look back on some of the most memorable and share worthy memories of the SHEA events of 2017! I am so grateful for these moments and for the people who I got to spend my working time with this year. Being self-employed comes with its challenges, one of which being that my personal life truly blends in with my work life- it’s basically one big beautiful grey area that I exist in 24 hours a day- but what makes that amazing is the incredible people (brides, grooms, vendors & partners) that fill those days with their partnership, camaraderie, and true support. I am one lucky wedding planner, and cannot wait to fill 2018 with new amazing memories (including a new bundle of love coming in February!). So! Without further adieu, my 2017 season wrap up and some of my favourite memories!

NEW SPACES, NEW DESIGNS

This summer, two new venues (for me at least!) gave me an opportunity to flex some new design muscles and work with new teams of vendors. And boy, did they ever prove to provide extraordinary event spaces for my brides & grooms. Check out a snapshot of them below with some stunning images, all courtesy of Miss Scarlet O’Neil!

The Crystal Ballroom at the King Edward Hotel

A swanky newly designed space, this gorgeous ballroom has been restored with as much elegance as its original affair worthy décor, with the most elegant modern touches. Guests in the space can except to be swept away in the allure of a bygone era while being so impressed with the restoration of a truly stunning Toronto ballroom!

The East Room

This modern take on an industrial overhaul space, The East Room is a shared work space for Toronto’s super hip entrepreneurs. It’s only recently (in fact, this was one of the first weddings to take place in the cool space) that the space opened up to weddings and events for some of their members. The space comes with its own established aesthetic and furniture, so this is the perfect venue for someone who loves the eclectic décor and pop culture inspired atmosphere.

WEDDING BELLS FEATURE

Have you picked up the latest issue of Wedding Bells magazine to check out the snaps from one of this summer’s most romantic and FUN weddings up in Muskoka? Elynn & Joe's day was nothing short of the most romantic summer weekend. It felt like falling in love at summer camp all over again. The late night bonfires, goofing around in the lake, and celebrating with only your closest family and friends. Be sure to grab a copy and check out all the details on page 261!

And click HERE to see the recent blog feature I wrote on that special wedding day.

For now, the gorgeous highlight reel from Eric Frank Cinema. No, you're crying!

CEREMONIES OUTSIDE OF THE BOX

Two weddings I designed this year featured ceremonies in the round! Both ceremonies were truly unique with one happening in a horse paddock in the middle of a field, and one happening in a traditional venue ballroom space. Check out both of these fabulous ceremonies below. Would you jump outside the ceremony box and do something in the round?

NEW FACES

This year I welcomed some new faces onto the SHEA team who will be making their presence more known for our upcoming 2018 weddings.

Mia is our new Lead Assistant who will be at nearly every wedding this coming season. Her work this year as an assistant and coordinator proved that she has the chops to hang with the best of the best working on wedding days. She’s a no messing around type of chick, who gets down to business on a busy wedding day! Check out more about Mia HERE

Kelly has come on board as our new Day of Wedding Coordinator! Any new clients who book their day of coordinator services with our team will be assigned to the fabulous Kelly for their big day organization. She’s keen, she’s eager, and she’s the first (natural!) blonde on the SHEA team! Check out more about Kelly HERE

BOUQUETS FOR DAYS

2017 was never disappointing when it came to fabulous bouquets. In fact, some of the most unbelievable floral masterpieces were created this year and it’s only fair I share a recap of some of my favourites! Check these out and bow down to the incredible floral masters who created them.

THE MOST JOY AND ALL OF THE LOVE

I could go on forever about all of the love and joy that I experienced this year. I am so blessed to be surrounded by so much! My work is the industry of love. How incredible is that? So instead of blabbing on and on about how incredible it is, I will leave you with some of the most beautiful images of the love itself. Thank you to all of these brides and grooms who made this year one for the books. I can only hope that every year is as fulfilling and successful. Thank you, thank you, thank you. xoxo

More beautiful 2017 couple photos to come!
